Youth Cricket

Boys and Girls youth cricket at Abergavenny Cricket Club is crucial to the long-term success and sustainability of local cricket. Without a strong commitment to Youth cricket there is no future for the game in Abergavenny. We invest a lot of time and effort in developing young cricketers who we hope will mature into senior players. Our track record is good, with Mark Wallace, Michael Powell and now Ben Morris securing careers in first class cricket. However, our values also include fun and enjoyment, and we hope the young people that turn up to our regular training sessions continue to experience fun and enjoyment.

The GWENT YOUTH LEAGUE organises the Age Groups with an associated day of the week. Although most fixtures, both home and away, are allocated a night, some clubs may need to amend this arrangement.

There are dedicated Girls and mixed teams, with leagues run through the summer.

We encourage all young people no matter their ability to join us for winter training and on week day evenings from the beginning of April till the end of August. Each age group will each have their own training evening.

The Academy Coach, is available for the young players who wish to further their cricket skills and receive additional mentoring and coaching. These 1:1 session are part funded by the Club.

Each season there are competitive leagues and cup tournaments for the U11, U13 & U15’s  and girls teams at U13 & U15’s.
